Due to overwhelming demand, we’ve started offering chestnut flour from nuts grown by our friends in Ohio, while we build the capacity to mill flour from our crop. Chestnut flour is a nutritious and delicious gluten-free flour that we use to make cookies, biscuits, brownies, polenta, porridge, necci, and many other delicious ideas you can see here.
Chestnut flour is available in two grinds — coarse and fine. Fine flour is finely milled and a great versatile flour for all kinds of baked goods, bread, and pasta. Coarse flour is an unsifted “home style” flour that is more coarsely milled and offers a texture more like a medium corn meal. We love using coarse in some baked goods and also for polenta, grits, or porridge.
Chestnut flour is gluten-free and a good source of complex carbohydrates, fiber, vitamin C, B vitamins, and minerals like potassium and magnesium.
