FALL 2022: HARVEST

In October 2022, we gathered Breadtree’s first chestnut harvest (20 lbs.) from the four year-old silvopasture at Otter Creek, in Johnsonville NY. The oldest trees at Otter Creek were planted into bare soy- and corn-fields in 2019. For more information about this site, see here.

With dear friends Bug and Jono, we also had the opportunity to harvest the eight year-old chestnut silvopasture Russell had helped to plant at Q Farms in Sharon CT. We gathered select seed for propagation, and successfully trialed our newly imported Austrian Obstraupe harvester.
